Edwin Morgan (innate April 27, 1920) is a Scottish poet and translator world health organization is associated sustaining a British Poetry Revival. He is widely recognised when one of a first Scottish poets of the 20th century. He is the survive survivor of the canonical 'Large Seven' (a others existence Hugh MacDiarmid, Robert Garioch, Norman MacCaig, Iain Crichton Smith, George Mackay Brown, and Sorley MacLean).
Morgan was innate inside Glasgow and grew up within Rutherglen. He entered Glasgow University in 1937 and, after interrupting his studies to serve inside World War II, graduated in 1947 and became a lecturer at a university. He worked at Glasgow University until his retirement inside 1980.
Morgan has worked inside a wide range of forms & styles, from either the sonnet to concrete poetry. His Collected Poems appeared within 1990. He has besides translated from either the wide range of languages, including Russian, Hungarian, French, Italian, Latin, Spanish, Portuguese and German. Several one come collected inside Rites of Passage. Selected Translations (1976).
Around 1999, Morgan was made a number 1 Glasgow Poet Laureate. Around 2004, he wwhen named as a number one Scottish National Poet (Makar).
He too features on the Idlewild album The Remote Part on the final track Scottish Fiction.
